Booking in:
the staff member struggled with the printed on-line booking voucher as he wanted me to sign it. He then wanted my passport, which I do not carry as I am a UK citizen. If this is company policy, perhaps it should be clear on the documents.
I think my biggest concern with booking in was his attempt to charge me £150+ instead of 1p when he swiped my credit card.
I am currently using crutches, but no attempt was made to assist me.
The Room:
Extremely small, clean, no view except a blank wall. Modern, stylish and comfortable.
Sparkling modern bathroom with Dove toiletries.
Breakfast:
The only option offered when booking was Room Only.
I enquired about the breakfast arrangements while I was checking out and was given a voucher for a 'free' buffet breakfast in the adjoining Garfunkels, probably because of the dreadful check-in.
A very skimpy continental buffet, with chemically tasting OJ, cereal, yoghurt, cheese, plastic ham and heavily seeded bread rolls. I asked for toast, but was not charged for it.

Smooth check in, which was an enormous contrast to the last time at the end of November 2007 . Young desk clerk recognised me and apologised for his mistakes- a nice touch.
I had the same room which was spotlessly clean and comfortable, although cramped.
As I have rheumatoid arthritis and use a stick to walk, might I suggest that access to the hotel (up 3 steep steps) would be improved with a handrail - it really was a struggle. I realised afterwards that I could have entered the hotel through the adjoining Garfunkels, but that still meant negotiating steps. Do you have any ramped access to the building - surely a legal requirement now?
