London Docklands Hotels
Docklands is the semi-official name for an area in the east of London that comprises parts of several boroughs. It has undergone significant urban redevelopment and regeneration in recent years and the area has become both a major business centre and an increasingly attractive area to live.
The clearest symbol of the whole effort was the ambitious Canary Wharf project that constructed Britain's tallest building and established a second major financial centre in London. Canary Wharf has become one of Europe's biggest clusters of skyscrapers and a direct challenge to the financial dominance of the City. Further east, the Royal Docks are finally being regenerated most prominently symbolised the ExCeL Exhibition Centre.
Transport links have improved significantly with London City Airport now having links to many of Europes leading cities. The Jubilee Line on the underground was extended in 1999 and now has a station in the Isle of Dogs. The Docklands are also connected to the City and central London with the the DLR (Docklands Light Railway), which has now been extended to include London City Airport.
